Celebrating Cake Decorators

Here at Rose Macefield Cakecraft I have seen hundreds of new cake makers begin their cake journey. Many have learnt cake decoration to purely enjoy the pleasure of making cakes for family and friends. Others have embarked on an exciting new career path. Whatever the reason for joining my courses, today I am celebrating the success of all the wonderful cake decorators I have had the pleasure to teach and wish them all success for their future ventures. Helping others to learn has been the greatest reward for me. Here is a compilation of students independent work.

Salon Culinaire 2019

Here is the small decorative piece I created for Salon Culinaire last week.
The Orangutan has always been one of my favourite animals so it was an absolute pleasure to create this design.
As some of you may know I always create larger designs but I decided it was time for a change and I created this small piece, it was definitely a challenge to say the least.
I’m delighted to have won a silver medal for my entry and look forward to competing again next year.

Business update

As many of you are aware – and for those who are not – last month I closed down the retail shop after six years of running it. It was an emotional time to say the least, but now I can really focus on what I love most – Cake Art and Teaching!

Teaching
Beginner and intermediate classes will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the new venue:

I have some exciting designs planned for 2019 so please keep popping back and having a look. All information will also be available on my Facebook and Instagram pages.

Tutorials
I will continue to create even more tutorials and videos which will be available on my YouTube channel and on this website.

Cake Art
I will be continuing to work as a cake artist for commissions and exhibitions focusing on Sculpted Cakes and Wedding Cakes but I will no longer be taking celebration cake orders.

Salon Cullinaire Competition at Hotelympia 2018

I recently entered the prestigious competition at Hotelympia in London. Having not entered a competition for 3 years I decided to enter this one as a way of providing myself a new challenge. And what a challenge it was! It took a whole month to create the piece in between other commitments and with a few elements going wrong (as they usually do) I nearly wished I hadn’t started. And then when they day came to deliver it I found I was extremely nervous and almost chickened out. It was as if I’d never done this before! Anyway after a breath holding journey and a painstaking wait of 3 day’s I finally found out I’d won Gold and Best in Class! Yippee!!I must admit I was over the moon, totally, and glad I’d done it. So roll on next year, I may just enter again 😊
